Espadelagem in Nogueira

On the 23rd of September 2007 the population of Nogueira congregated itself in order to carry through the flax’s Espadelagem. This process is characterised for disaggregating the still adherent edges, and to separate the finer fibres, which then will constitute the flax, from the coarsest ones, that will form the tows.

This activity inserts itself in the activities of the Associação Recreativa e Cultural of Nogueira. This Association was created in the year 2000, by people of the parish council, having as main goal, the development of cultural and amusing activities. They are activities such as the handcraft’s restore, sporting events, support to the third age, concertinas’ school, support to the local choir, and the general mobilisation of the population to several activities carried through within the parish council.

The Espadelagem of the Project “Flax Cycle” appoints to the recreation of the flax’s creation, in its artisan form. This task occurs in the second phase of the flax, the flax’s preparation. As support to this report it would be interesting to consult the remaining site.

This was a pleasant day with all the community of Nogueira, with the aid of some curious people in this same project. It reigned the exchange of knowledge of a very noble art, everything inside a rural and pure environment as it is this of Nogueira.
